Efforts are underway to build the first national WWII memorial in America to honor veterans of Basque descent.

Our mission is to honor the valor, sacrifice, and enduring legacy of Basque WWII veterans recognizing their profound contributions to freedom and democracy. Through commemorations, education, and advocacy, we pledge to ensure their stories are remembered, their sacrifices acknowledged, and their courage celebrated for generations to come.

The North American Basque Organizations’ (N.A.B.O.) WWII Special Committee is seeking your active participation and support to spread the word about our plans to complete the research on WWII American veterans of Basque descent, and eventually establish a physical memorial honoring these Basque WWII veterans. N.A.B.O. has launched a fundraising campaign to cover the costs of the final stage of research by 2025-2026, so that efforts could then turn to building “The National Basque World War II Veterans Memorial.”

The memorial is intended to serve as a long-lasting memory to all these veterans of Basque origin who served in the U.S. military during WWII and to serve as an educational tool for all who visit to learn of their sacrifices and unselfish contributions to the country.
